Today’s Sunday Mirror has exposed racist comments from a number of your councillors. Amongst the worst is Chris Pain, the leader of the UKIP group on Lincolnshire County Council.

He wrote, on Facebook, “Have you noticed that if you ¬rearrange the letters in ‘illegal ¬immigrants’, and add just a few more letters, it spells, ‘Go home you free-loading, benefit-grabbing, resource-sucking, baby-making, non-English-speaking ********* and take those other hairy-faced, sandal-wearing, bomb-making, camel-riding, goat-********, raghead ******** with you.’”

—Charming. If you’re a UK resident, please take a look at this link where you can sign the petition to have Chris Pain expelled and urge him to make a public apology. (via weasley-detectives)

An interesting model of our solar system’s path as it travels through space in the Milky Way.
Certainly a departure from usual models that show the Sun as a static object, which it certainly isn’t

I have been waiting for this picture to come back around for so long to show it to someone.

Wadi Al-Salaam: The Largest Cemetery in The World via Amusing Planet

Wadi us-Salaam, which literally means the Valley of Peace, is an Islamic cemetery located in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. The cemetery covers an area of 1485.5 acres and contains millions of bodies, making it one of the strongest contender for the title of the largest graveyard on earth. Najaf itself is one of Iraq’s biggest cities, with a population of nearly 600,000. But the adjoining city of the dead holds the remains of millions, stretching for up to 10km along the valley. Wadi Al-Salam cemetery is also the only cemetery in the world where the process of burial is still continuing to day since more than 1,400 years.

all my family is buried here. it’s mind boggling you see, you can literally get lost in this place; it’s like a whole nother city.

French artist Xoil has a characteristic tattooing style that looks like he has stamped, stenciled, or drawn directly with a felt-tip pen on his clients’ bodies.

These are gorgeous.

I would get one of these.

Perish is the word that more than applies
To the hope in my heart each time I realize
That I am not gonna be the one to share your dreams
That I am not gonna be the one to share your schemes
That I am not gonna be the one to share what
Seems to be the life that you could
Cherish as much as I do yours

I’m not going to pretend that this is a comprehensive, authoritative, or definitive examination of this tremendously complex issue and its intersectionality - that would take a large book or Doctoral thesis to even scratch the surface of - but one thing I haven’t seen explored a lot in the meta of this fandom and which I think is VERY relevant to his character is Dean’s effemiphobia, and I would like to at least open discussion on the matter.

Because it’s huge.  I cannot overstate its importance enough in shaping the psyche of the average “dude.”  Effemiphobia was a word that, as a man, changed my life.  Literally.  If Fred Jones had been around when I fully grasped its meaning and how much it ruled my existence, the lightbulb that went on over my head would have blinded Vegas…

Everyone should read this, Supernatural fan or not.
